1. What are Herdies Yak Chews made from?
Herdies Yak Chews are made using a traditional Himalayan recipe with simple, natural ingredients including yak and cow milk, lime juice, salt and added turmeric. They're naturally high in protein and contain no artificial colours or preservatives.
2. What age can puppies have Herdies Yak Chews?
Our Small Yak Chews are suitable for puppies from 4 months old. As with any chew, always supervise your puppy while chewing and make sure fresh drinking water is available.
3. What size dog are they suitable for?
Our Small Yak Chews are ideal for:
- Puppies (4 months+)
- Small breeds
- Dogs up to approximately 15kg
If you have a larger dog or an especially powerful chewer, we recommend choosing a larger chew size where available.
4. How long do they last?
Every dog chews differently, but Herdies Yak Chews are designed to last significantly longer than ordinary treats. Many owners find they provide multiple chewing sessions, helping keep dogs occupied while satisfying their natural chewing instincts.
5. What do I do when the chew gets too small?
Don't throw it away!
Simply soak the small piece in water for 5 minutes, then microwave the remaining end piece for around 45–90 seconds (depending on your microwave) until it puffs up into a crunchy treat.
Allow it to cool completely before giving it back to your dog.
6. Are Herdies Yak Chews safe?
Yes. Herdies Yak Chews are made with natural ingredients and are designed to be enjoyed safely when used correctly.
Always supervise your dog while chewing, choose the appropriate chew size for your dog, remove any small pieces that could become a choking hazard, and ensure fresh drinking water is always available.
